Day 2 Valletta, Malta

Day 2 onboard the Celebrity Infinity is in Valletta, Malta. Valletta is the capital of the Republic of Malta, on the island of the same name in the Mediterranean Sea. The city has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1980. The city is the seat of the Maltese government and parliament. The morning view from our Balcony in Valletta was a very special moment.

We took the elevator up to the gardens of Barrakka (Upper Barrakka Gardens and Lower Barrakka Gardens) that give a nice view over the port of Valletta and the 3 towns behind. They are a pleasant place to stroll around and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. For those looking for shade and tranquility in the city, this is the ideal place to visit in Valletta.

We then continued our walking tour through Valletta starting from the main gate. Valletta is a pre-planned city, which is reflected in the checkerboard pattern according to which the streets were laid out. In Valletta there are many buildings from the time that the Order of Malta ruled the country. The narrow streets and high buildings provide a lot of shade.

Main sight of course is the St. John's Co Cathedral, with its beautiful interior, we had to stand for quite some time in line unfortunately. Afterwards we continued our walking tour and had some local Pastizzi and drinks.

After ending our trip at the Siege Bell Memorial, returned back to the ship for Coffee at Café al Bacio and Canapés on our Balcony. The Celebrity Infinity then headed out to Greece. We also got the unique chance to stand on the Helicopter Deck during the sail away from Valletta. After that it was time to prepare for a fancy dinner.
