Day 3 Argostoli, Asos and Fiskardo, Greece

Argostoli is the lively capital of the Greek island of Kefalonia. This city is located in the south of the island, on the bay of Argostoli. There is a nice shopping street, there are nice terraces and a nice walkway to the other side of the bay. This Drapanos bridge at the entrance to the city is nine hundred meters long and, unlike most buildings in Argostoli, has withstood the 1953 earthquakes.

We had to tender from the Celebrity Infinity to get get ashore, which is quite an experience on its own. We then took a bus to see Asos, which is one of the most beautiful and photogenic villages of the island. This lovely village is built against a hill on the peninsula of the same name, in a green environment. The green spruce and pine trees in combination with the turquoise of the sea provide an unparalleled beauty. Asos, 35 kilometers north of Argostoli, is built between two bays. The pastel-colored houses in the village are built in the typical "Ionian island style". The residents are very welcoming and friendly.

We continued our bus trip to Fiskardo. Fiskardo is the northernmost town of Kefalonia and is 55 kilometers from Argostoli. The picturesque harbor town is a protected traditional village and has a sophisticated appearance. Due to the status of protected traditional village, there are strict rules for renovations and the construction of new houses. You get a good impression of what the villages on Kefalonia looked like before the 1953 earthquake.

Fiskardo is the northernmost and most cosmopolitan town of Kefalonia. Fiskardo is car-free and you can park your car at the edge of the harbour town. The cosmopolitan town is a favorite with sailors and when you stroll through the narrow streets you understand why Fiskardo is called the most beautiful village in Kefalonia. Many celebrities such as Madonna, Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have visited the harbor town and enjoyed it. The center has numerous narrow streets with boutiques, bars, taverns, coffee bars and other shops.

We had a real Greek lunch once we arrived, after that we explored Fiskardo a bit more and did a small photoshoot with in the beautiful, colourful and narrow streets of Fiskardo.

On the way back we stopped at Mythos beach viewpoint, what an sight to see. I would really like to visit Kefalonia once more and discover everything on this island. We then got back to the Celebrity Infinity and took a small nap.
